I am a rocking Blogger!

July 22, 2007

It’s 1.48am here in New Zealand but I just wanted to drop in and brag a bit…my mate Angela the ‘Domestic Divapalooza’ has honored me with a Rockin’ Girl blogger nomination…I was very excited to find out as I have never been given an award before…lol

Apparently this award has been floating around the web for some time now and it took some researching but I, eventually, discovered that the originator of the award was Roberta Ferguson of Blogging Made Devilishly Simple. She never meant for it to be a meme but its amazing how things grow…a bit like how I would like to see the ‘Just as I am Challenge‘ Grow. Wink, Wink, Nudge, Nudge!…yea, yea, another shameful plug…

So time to nominate five other bloggers for the ‘Rockin’ Girl Blogger’ award. I nominate:

Kim - The spunky big city girl.

Melinda - who has bravely rearranged herself through gastric bypass surgery.

Shauna - The inspiring super-hero, Diet Girl, from the ‘Amazing Adventures of Diet Girl.

Teena - The Feisty Canadian, a regular and top comments contributor here at Finding Flabuless.

Laura - The Points Princess and an amazing SAHM to 5 children…can you believe it?…Dieting AND mum to 5!!!!

Congratulations you guys, you are now nominated and entitled to host the above award badge on your sites also…

P.S Don’t forget to pass it on. Lets keep this great acknowledgement tool going! We ALL need some recognition sometimes.

I have entered the 2k Blogger Contest!

July 22, 2007

2k Bloggers have a 2000th Blogger Essay Contest running. To enter, I had to write an essay explaining why I’d like to be added to the 2k Bloggers photo montage and directory. So tonight I wrote my entry. I will publish it, below, along with the picture of me I thought would be fitting for the montage…

Hi I am Flabuless and I am a Fatblogger!

I hear you’re looking for a fabulous blogger to take you to the 2k mark…Well, I can do you one better. I am a ‘flabuless’ blogger.

I may not be famous, I may not be rich, and my blog might not be the most well known in the blogosphere. However, I am a real kiwi (New Zealand) chick, a ‘wannabe’ diva with a mortgage, two kids, an InSinkErator, a size F bra cup, and at-least 60lbs which i would rather I didn’t have…GRRRR.

The way I understand what you are trying to do with this project is to represent a snapshot of bloggers from from different backgrounds, nations and a broad spectrum of interest areas.

For starters, I am the quintessential blogger, I do it for the love of it, not to primarily make a buck and, as far as UNIQUE goes you will not find anything quite like Finding Flabuless anywhere in the blogosphere. Aside from it being a up front and candid account of my personal weight loss/diet journey from ‘Flab’ to ‘Flabuless’ (I have lost 95lbs so far), it also showcases my unique brand of madness in my ‘Lighter Side of Large Cartoon Strip’ based on my experiences of life as a fat woman.

I have a slightly irreverent take on weight-loss and body image, and on my blog, nothing is sacred; not me, not my life and definitely not my flab…I have mastered the art of embarrassing myself, dismally, for all the world to see-that much is apparent in my FlabVlogs (ie videocasts)! But although my blog has only been ‘live’ since January this year, I must be doing something right cause, I have had over 7,000 Unique Visits and about 25% of them are now my faithful following…Hey, I cant help it that people LOVE me…

This is just the start for me, and very soon I will be replacing Oprah as the Prime Time Diva… for now, I am simply, Flabuless and I believe I represent a portion of the blogosphere that is not currently represented in your 2kbloggers.

This is why I believe you need my face there to liven things up and help people to learn to laugh at themselves again.

ok…so I am not at all modest…but you guys should know that by now…hehe! I had great fun writing it…now, lets see if I WIN! What do you think? Do I have a chance?

Lets play tag!

July 21, 2007

Ok lets up the anti a bit…I know I keep going on about the
‘Just As I Am Challenge’
but this is something fun, inspirational and besides we would all love to learn more about each other right? So I am going to through down the gauntlet…Lets see just how much impact this challenge can make on the world.
Lets play tag…here’s how it works…Take up the challenge yourself then choose 5 people to tag…list those chosen ones on your blog under your entry and then visit their blog and write them a comment letting them know they have been ‘tagged’ to take part in the challenge…keep track of who participates and record their links on your blog as they post their entries.

Eventually we will be able to follow a trail from everyone’s blog linking to other blogs and their tagged blogs etc…it could be huge… Tell your blogging mates…and lets start a craze and grow and learn to love ourselves through doing this.

Plus, inspired by

2kbloggers
, my dream is to set up a photo montage, of ALL who participate, with links back to their individual blog posts…Now I am getting goose bumps…IMAGINE a photo montage of 2,000 ‘Fatbloggers’ accepting themselves…Just as they are! Ok, Ok so I am thinking Big!!!! I always do…but if you think this is a neat idea then get onboard and lets start making an impact sort of like the ‘pay it forward’ phenomenon. And if you would like to be on the montage…start sending me your photo’s with links to your challenge post…so that I can set it up.

So who am I tagging?
