Website Renovation

May 25, 2007

If you have visited my site recently you will find I have been a busy little beaver! Due to Internet Explorer issues with the previous design I was using I have overhauled the Finding Flabuless website from the ground up so hopefully it will now be more accessible no matter what Browser you are using. So check in when you can and tell me what you think! I accidentally deleted my ShoutBox/Guest Book page recently…grrr I really loved reading the comments on there from everybody…so please if you have a moment post a greeting and let me know who you are and where you are from even if you had done so previously. You can find the page under ‘Fun Stuff’ or you can visit directly from
HERE
. I am looking forward to hearing from you all.

Minding My Own Business

April 19, 2007

If you had of told me 2 years ago that I would be actively pursuing a online ebusiness concept I would have laughed in your face…This from a girl who’s total knowledge of the web was how to get email, and search google, needless to say, I had absolutely no idea how it all worked really…Terms like SEO (which I intermittently refer to as CEO…hehehe) ROI, CSS, were like japanese to me…and, yet, 1 year after, a single mom on a pension…yes thats me!…stumbled across an idea that she thought just might work..I have learned so much even to be able to develop the ‘Finding Flabuless’ website myself. You might have noticed the adds on the site for
SizeXchange.com
Yes, I know you probably guessed that it was mine…and it is. Not half obvious am I?

It was born out of my own biggest dilemma, standing in front of my wardrobe, wondering what the heck I’m going to wear.  The clothes that used to fit, now hang limp and lifeless, hiding the weeks of hard work I had already put in, sculpturing the new me.

I knew it was time to go shopping, but I didn’t want to pay pay full price for clothing that will only fit for a month or so as I continued on my quest to my ultimate dress size.

This got me thinking…if that was my dilemma, chances are it is other dieter’s dilemma as well. So I then started wondering, how one could provide a service to fill that need. It was then the concept of SizeXchange started unravelling and since then it has evolved into something much bigger…however, the basic idea is that it is a clothes swap auction…working similar to ‘feebay’ (hehehe!) but instead of auctioning for money the clothes are actually auctioned for points. The more of your larger clothes you put up for auction that are successfully exchanged the more points you accrue which you can use to bid on items in the size that you need when you need it. Simple really really but quite complex when you are in the position I and my web-developers are in trying to customise the programming to work that way. I had hoped that we would be up and running closer to the beginning of the year but now it is looking like we could be waiting a bit longer…The response I have received to this concept even before we have launched has been exciting and quite overwhelming…who would have thought that dieters are virtually crying out for such a service.

I’ll let you in on a secret though…If you sign up for our pre-launch newsletter you will be not only one of the first to know when we are approaching launch but all our newsletter subscribers will get access to a 60-day free period to try the service out for themselves.

Anyhow, enough plugging for today.

Ohhh you guys are going to kill me!

April 10, 2007

Oh bloody hell I have gone and done it again…I have changed the structure of the blog around…I am using a different system now…one where everyone can see the comments of others without having to look at a pop up box. When you post it will come up on the main page under the blog posting itself…

I am trying here guys…I want to hear from you all!!! NO excuses! But the bad side to me ‘playing’ with the site is that the RSS feed address has changed some…it is now:
http://www.findingflabuless.com/Blog/index_files/FRSS.php or alternatively through Feedburner:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/FindingFlabulessRssFeed

I promise NO more playing from now on…I will leave things as is.

I was going to blog it out tonight but it is already 1am and I am exhausted…so I am off to bed…alone…with my dreams…and my 3 year old, crawling into bed with me in the middle of the night …I can hear all you saying Ohhhh isn’t that cute…well it would be if he didn’t snore so bloody loudly…I thought I was BAD…sleeping next to him even I have to put MY head under the pillow and even then I can still hear him….GRRR I haven’t had a decent nights sleep in what seems like 3 years hehehehe that and having to wear PJ’s to bed considering how uncomfortable they are when they twist and scrunch up between the sheets…before my boy came along my bed dress of choice was ‘what you find in an empty box’…hehehe I will leave that one to your over active imaginations. The funny thing is that I snore like a trooper myself…and others snoring never used to bother me but my son…well…he can snore with the best of them…I guess he takes after his mama! but ssssh don’t tell anyone…I wouldn’t like any future partners to find out that little bit of information too soon…about me snoring I mean..hehehe.
