I have entered the 2k Blogger Contest!
July 22, 2007
2k Bloggers have a 2000th Blogger Essay Contest running. To enter, I had to write an essay explaining why I’d like to be added to the 2k Bloggers photo montage and directory. So tonight I wrote my entry. I will publish it, below, along with the picture of me I thought would be fitting for the montage…

Hi I am Flabuless and I am a Fatblogger!
I hear you’re looking for a fabulous blogger to take you to the 2k mark…Well, I can do you one better. I am a ‘flabuless’ blogger.
I may not be famous, I may not be rich, and my blog might not be the most well known in the blogosphere. However, I am a real kiwi (New Zealand) chick, a ‘wannabe’ diva with a mortgage, two kids, an InSinkErator, a size F bra cup, and at-least 60lbs which i would rather I didn’t have…GRRRR.
The way I understand what you are trying to do with this project is to represent a snapshot of bloggers from from different backgrounds, nations and a broad spectrum of interest areas.
For starters, I am the quintessential blogger, I do it for the love of it, not to primarily make a buck and, as far as UNIQUE goes you will not find anything quite like Finding Flabuless anywhere in the blogosphere. Aside from it being a up front and candid account of my personal weight loss/diet journey from ‘Flab’ to ‘Flabuless’ (I have lost 95lbs so far), it also showcases my unique brand of madness in my ‘Lighter Side of Large Cartoon Strip’ based on my experiences of life as a fat woman.
I have a slightly irreverent take on weight-loss and body image, and on my blog, nothing is sacred; not me, not my life and definitely not my flab…I have mastered the art of embarrassing myself, dismally, for all the world to see-that much is apparent in my FlabVlogs (ie videocasts)! But although my blog has only been ‘live’ since January this year, I must be doing something right cause, I have had over 7,000 Unique Visits and about 25% of them are now my faithful following…Hey, I cant help it that people LOVE me…
This is just the start for me, and very soon I will be replacing Oprah as the Prime Time Diva… for now, I am simply, Flabuless and I believe I represent a portion of the blogosphere that is not currently represented in your 2kbloggers.
This is why I believe you need my face there to liven things up and help people to learn to laugh at themselves again.
ok…so I am not at all modest…but you guys should know that by now…hehe! I had great fun writing it…now, lets see if I WIN! What do you think? Do I have a chance?
Look whats got me drooling!
July 21, 2007
Well, you all should know, by now, that I want to be the next Oprah…except ‘cuter’ cause of my Sexy Australian Accent…hehe! Admit it! You guys would rather watch and listen to me any day then her, right?…
I have been searching, for ages, for some good broadcasting software to record my FlabVlogs (Video Casts) and tonight I found some amazing software…so perfect, that I am still wiping the dribble from my mouth, quite literally.
Its called Videocue Pro and it would basically mean that I could produce broadcast quality shows incorporating pictures, video files, titles, slideshows etc etc…a broadcasters dream, really. I would be able to produce my FlabVlogs to a quality similar to the ElasticWaist video I posted in my recent post “Let’s get naked and lose weight” with all sorts of special effects and interesting backgrounds and angles…lol
I am an avid MAC user because I can’t be bothered with all the viruses and such that PC computers are constantly plagued with…and this is the ONLY software that I have found for my MacBook Laptop that can do all that I dream of doing in this blog and others eventually.
The trouble is, as a single mom, on a pension, barely struggling to make ends meet, its hard to justify spending money on anything other than rent, food, and warm clothes for the little ones…let alone $90USD on software. My mind tells me that if I was to take the plunge and make the sacrifice to purchase the software then I could use it as a tool eventually to maybe make some more money and develop some income revenue streams to help support me and my work on the web…But as much as I WANT the software, with a passion that I haven’t felt in a long time…I just don’t know.
So what do you think? Should I get the software, make your viewing pleasure all the more interesting…and start working towards my career path as the next Oprah.
Or
Should I do the responsible thing and just leave it?
I want to hear from you…cause I am REALLY torn over this. How do you decide what to do when there is something you really, really want but just can’t quite justify it…knowing the sacrifices that would have to be made to get it. Please tell me your opinions!
By the way…this is NOT a paid post…lol…I am very genuine in asking for your help in this decision.
Join the Finding Flabuless Blogroll
July 19, 2007
In order to further promote our unique and individual FlabBlogs, I am setting up a FlabBlogroll so that we can all benefit from each others links and so that other readers can easily find us.
The only requirements to taking part in this FlabBlogRoll is that:
- Your blog must be weight-loss focussed - it doesn’t matter how you are losing weight or where you are at in your progress. It also doesn’t matter if you have other, more general, posts on your blog as long as it is primarily about your own personal weight loss journey amongst other things…
- You must publish the FlabBlogRoll on the sidebar of your Blog…and it must be clearly visible.
- You must, at least, publish one new post in your blog each week.
So that I can add you to the Blogroll and send you the code to publish on your blogs please leave a comment below including your email address and Blog URL. I will respond within 48 hours with the code and confirmation that you have been added.
I will endeavour to visit everyone’s blogs periodically, so make sure, when I pop into your cyber home, the blogroll is displayed on your site…hehe!…or else Flabuless might brew up some fire and brimstone…lol.
Its a great opportunity to join together and help each other…besides i would LOVE to have a list of everyone’s blogs that visit this site…So many come in and out that its hard to keep up, at times. Just as you all are supporting and encouraging me i would love to be able to ‘pay it forward’ and support you guys too.
